Think Happy Thoughts

Happy thoughts are part of our lives. In an average day it is estimated that we have around 60,000 thoughts. Have you ever wondered how many of these thoughts are happy thoughts?

It is known that happy people think more happy thoughts than unhappy people. If we think happy thoughts... we create happy perceptions... we create a beautiful aura of light around ourselves... which leads us to happy events. And so we create an exciting circle (where we become even happier).

Happy thoughts connect us with the light, confidence and courage to act... to the power to believe. To live our lives according to our hopes and dreams not somebody else´s.

Jealous, angry and fearful thoughts and feelings take us away from our own path... our own purpose. But a straight path doesn´t admit compromises. These negative thoughts strip us of our power and ability to act effectively. If we think fearful thoughts we become afraid and act defensively. This pushes away other people and other possibilities away from us. And so we become lonelier and more afraid.

The route to a happier life is through happy thoughts. Not just because they make you feel better immediately... but because happier thoughts give you a stronger and more stable foundation to your life. You are in control rather than being bounced around by life.

Carcinogenic Toxins in Baby Shampoo?

I was appalled when I recently discovered the plethora of harmful, even carcinogenic, ingredients that are bountiful in products that we all use on an everyday basis. From make-up to bubble bath to lotions and especially, baby products. One ingredient in-particular, Quaternium-15, is abundant in over 400 products that we all use, or have used at some point.

Quaternium-15 is a quaternary ammonium salt used as a preservative and acts as a Formaldehyde releaser. Formaldehyde has been classified as a known human carcinogen (cancer-causing substance) by the International Agency for Research on Cancer and as a probable human carcinogen by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. I find it scary that there are not any government regulations
on products manufactured in the beauty and cosmetic industries.

According to the Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety database, 403 of the 407 products that contain Quaternium-15 are classified with a hazard rating of 3-10 with 3 being a moderate hazard and 10 being a high hazard. Exposure to this ingredient is known to cause cancer, developmental/reproductive toxicity, allergies/immunotoxicity, contamination concerns - FORMALDEHYDE, and organ system toxicity (non-productive).

Some of the name brands that contain this harmful ingredient include, but are not limited to, Johnson & Johnson baby products, Aveeno lotions and washes, Mr. Bubble bubble bath, Maybelline, CoverGirl, Almay, and Hawaiian Tropic tanning oil. Now, since there are no regulations on labeling ingredients by our government, manufacturers are not required to list all ingredients as they are AND can claim them to be "all natural" even if they are not. It is up to us, the consumer, to educate ourselves as much as possible to try to avoid these toxins. Keep in mind, that I have only pinpointed ONE of many harmful toxins that we are exposed to on a regular basis.

In closing, I hope this helps alert as many people as possible to just become more aware of what we put on our bodies and the toxins that these products contain. Here is a list of other names that Quaternium-15 may be listed as in the ingredients:
N- (3-CHLOROALLYL) HEXAMINIUM CHLORIDE; CHLOROALLYL METHENAMINE CHLORIDE; 1- (3-CHLOROALLYL) -3,5,7-TRIAZA-1-AZONIAADAMANTANE CHLORIDE; METHENAMINE 3-CHLOROALLY LCHLORIDE; METHENAMINE 3-CHLOROALLYLOCHLORIDE; 1- (3-CHLOROALLYL) -3,5,7-TRIAZA-1-AZONIAADAMANTANE CHLORIDE; DOWCO 184; DOWICIDE Q; DOWICIL 100; DOWICIL 75; QUATERNIUM 15.

Multivitamin 101

The importance of taking a multivitamin in today's world is crucial considering that vitamins and minerals are required for life, yet our bodies do not naturally create most of them. Not to mention, that the best source for these nutrients are found naturally in fruits and vegetables of which only 14% of US adults eat the required amount, according to a 2009 report from the Centers for Disease Control.

There are two major problems with most multivitamins that are found on the market today...... the first is they are designed to be taken once a day, well as humans we are designed to eat more than once a day so it only makes sense that we should be supplementing more than once a day. Secondly, most minerals out there are only about 10% soluble. What exactly does this mean? Well, it means that they dissolve easily in the acidic environment of the stomach, so when they pass into the intestines, where absorption takes place, they crystallize and become almost, if not entirely, impossible to be absorbed by the body.

Thank goodness for science! It has been discovered that fruits and vegetables absorb raw minerals from the earth, and bind them to organic compounds such as protein and fiber. There is now a multivitamin available that mirrors this process by binding minerals to organic compounds like amino acids and oligofructose, the way they are found in fruits, vegetables, and other whole foods. This process allows for over 85% solubility, compared with less than 10% in traditional multivitamins. I find this amazing!

It IS Possible!!

I am excited to be starting a new adventure!

It has always been my childhood dream to be a stay-at-home mom and for the last 4 years I have had the privilege to live out that dream. But, with this crazy economy and my husbands career as a Lead Carpenter, our income can vary quite drastically from week to week. Because of this, I began researching ways to bring in an income while not giving up my dream to be home with my beautiful children. I will be honest..... this proved to be no easy task! There are a lot of scams out there.

I was thrilled when I found a legitimate way to earn an income AND help other moms do the same. Not only that, but I am now using safer, healthier products that I was buying at discount stores for about the same amount of money. How lucky am I? The best part is I can now help other families make the switch to healthier products that are also better for the environment.
All of this is possible because I have joined a successful group of women called Internet CEO Moms who work with a complete wellness company offering over 350 everyday necessity products like: laundry stuff, dish washing detergent, soaps, lotions, make-up, supplements, and so much more.

Because my family is VERY important to me, so are the products that we use on a daily basis and not knowing exactly what chemicals go into making these products was a bit scary to me. I began looking into some of these and found out that there is an ingredient in baby shampoo called Quaternium-15 that is actually a form of formaldehyde.... how disgusting! Check out this link to educate yourself about what goes into some of the products that we all use on a daily basis..... this link is not associated with the group that I have joined, but great information, none-the-less! http://storyofstuff.org/cosmetics/
